Besides kids from Oakes, we had participants from towns in North Dakota, South Dakota, Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Colorado. other pull winners Age 6 - 1st Luke Mund, 2nd Nathan Schmitz, 3rd Grace Mitzel. Age 8 - 1st Jackson Sorum, 2rid Braysen Sagert, 3rd Nash Saterdalen. Dickey County Relay for Life 2016 was held June 3, 2016 in Oakes, N.D. from Noon to Mid- night. The weather was a chal- lenge for. Relay this year. We started on Main street and then the rain came. We can't thank April and the City enough for letting us move to the Armory. RFL co- chairs Tam- my Fahr- enholz and Judy Loepp welcomed spectators and the teams to the start of Relay. Re- becca Un- dem was introduced as the MC for the pro- gram. Pas- tor Steve Olson gave the invocation, followed by Al- lison Cox singing the National Anthem. Cancer survivors Mona Kelsh, Brittany Roney, Laroy Chesley, and Care-giver Collin Galbreath all spoke to the crowd of their experiences deal- ing with cancer. Rebecca spoke how cancer affects all of us in some way, and then brought the survivors up to make the survi- vor lap. The caregivers joined in the second lap and then teams and spectators. The bags were lit this year with glow sticks since we were in the armory. Everyone walked and viewed the 1,000 beautiful bags.
